Jackeline Tapia – Principal

Jackeline Tapia has been an educator for 21 years. She began her career as a fourth-grade teacher in the Castaic Union School District and later served as a Spanish Dual Immersion teacher in the Palmdale School District. She eventually returned to the Santa Clarita Valley—where she has proudly been a part of the community for over 25 years—to join the Newhall School District.

Now in her eighth year as principal of Newhall Elementary, Ms. Tapia is deeply grateful for the way the school community has embraced her. She is proud to see each generation of students thrive—achieving academic success, developing confidence, and building critical thinking skills that empower them to reflect on their experiences and contribute meaningfully to their community.

Ms. Tapia is passionate about language, culture, and helping others grow—meeting people where they are and supporting them as they take the next big step in their learning or career journey. Guided by the principles of servant leadership, she sees her purpose as being of service to others.

Ms. Tapia brings a global perspective to her work, having had the privilege of living and learning in different countries. She is also a proud mother—her son is currently entering his third year at UC Santa Cruz—and she continues to enjoy traveling, photography, dance, and going to the movies.
