Jackeline Tapia – Principal

Jackeline Tapia has been an educator for more than two decades. She began her career as a fourth-grade teacher in the Castaic Union School District and later served as a Spanish Dual Immersion teacher in the Palmdale School District. She eventually returned to the Santa Clarita Valley—where she has proudly been a part of the community for over 25 years—to join the Newhall School District.

Now entering her ninth year as principal of Newhall Elementary, Ms. Tapia is deeply grateful for the way the school community has embraced her. One of her greatest passions is bringing people together and partnering with families and staff to support the holistic growth of every student. She believes that strong relationships and a sense of community help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Guided by the principles of servant leadership, Ms. Tapia is passionate about language, culture, and helping others grow—meeting people where they are and supporting them as they take the next step in their learning and life journeys. She brings a global perspective to her work, having had the privilege of living and learning in different countries.

Ms. Tapia is also a proud mother. Her son is currently entering his senior year at UC Santa Cruz. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, dance, photography, and going to the movies. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at California Lutheran University, where her research focuses on family engagement and fostering meaningful partnerships between schools and families.

Mr. Arauz brings nearly 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional coach, department chair, and most recently as a Response to Intervention Coordinator at Pasadena High School. His passion lies in helping students succeed by building strong support systems, fostering collaboration, and creating a school where every student feels they belong.

He earned both his B.A. and M.A. in Education from Willamette University and completed his Administrative Services Credential at Cal Poly Pomona. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he’s a proud Dodger fan! Outside of school, he enjoys playing guitar, cycling, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
